Do your guests a favor!

So we all know the most important people on your wedding day are…the guests. There is a very good chance that at least one person will leave your wedding disappointed but there is a way to prevent this, since we know your main concern on your special day is making sure the guests are happy. And what is the answer you ask? Give your guests an unforgettable favor at the end of the night to make it all worthwhile! If I’m disappointed with your wedding and having an awful time but you end the night with personal boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts you can expect very good reviews from me! Whoever came up with this idea, THANK YOU! And for anyone who’s reading this that might be attending my wedding in the future, you can most definitely expect Krispy Kremes for your favor! I personally suggest using these as your favor unless there’s children at your wedding, then you may want to avoid the 300+ calorie, pure sugar dessert, just saying!

If you don’t feel like making your guests fat and unhealthy, well that’s your decision but don’t complain when they’re bashing your wedding to everyone they know because they didn’t get this awesome favor! But of course there are always other options, for instance, alcohol. These mini champagne bottles are too cute and they even double as a drink and a place card, all the more reason to use them as favors at your wedding! Plus, no guest will leave your wedding disappointed if you give them free alcohol as a favor, I guarantee it!

DIY Lace Envelopes!

doily envelope

In my three years of being a graphic design student one of my favorite art projects was making my own envelopes! Not only was it the easiest project I ever did but it was a really fun way to express my creativity, and I had cute envelopes for any occasion. I found some adorable DIY envelope projects on Pinterest the other day and I thought I should share them with you! I used scrapbook paper when I made my own envelopes but now I realize that I was just taking the easy way out because there are so many other, more creative options I could have used. For example, check out these adorable lace envelopes made from doilies; yes I know, finally a good use for a doily! And of course Martha Stewart took it a step further and made these adorable envelopes into even more adorable name card/table number holders which are perfect for an elegant, lace-inspired wedding!

Want to make these lace envelopes for yourself? I don’t blame you; they’re just too cute! I found all of the information you’ll need here but I’ll help get you started!

1.) I suggest using your invitation as your template for the lace envelope and your table numbers as the template for the lace name cards (this may be an unnecessary bullet point but you never know!)

2.) Fold the corners of the doily in, starting with the two sides. In order to make sure there is enough room for your invitation to breathe leave about a 1/4″ gap between the fold of the lace and the invitation.

*Be sure to firmly crease the edges of the doily before going any further; it would be a shame if you were stuck with a flimsy envelope after all this grueling work!

3.) In the post I was using for instructions she used double-sided tape to adhere the corners of the envelope together but if you’re willing to spend more money you can certainly use other methods!

4.) Your beautiful lace envelope is ready to go, assuming you were able to follow these difficult instructions!

As for the table numbers just flip the envelope over and cut small notches in the top and bottom of the lace pattern to hold the name cards! Let’s hope your DIY envelope turns out as cute as the picture (because that always happens, right?). If you’re looking for more doily decor you can check out more of  Martha’s creations here but try not to overdo it on the doilies because one can only handle so many doily DIYs!
